ABOUT

Artificial Eclipse is a simple, first-person platformer that challenges the player to leap across an open-world environment and obtain collectibles to complete the level.  

I felt that pure 3D first-person platforming games were not prominent enough in the industry. I felt that using the Unity engine was the best choice to develop the game on.

In developing the game, I wanted to create a platformer that was calming, but still gave players a challenge to speedrun. Rather than building a long story arc with character back stories, I took lessons from game missions such as Super Mario 64, where speedrunning and replayability were core elements in the game.

The decision to mix Sci-fi textures with a natural environment background further influenced the concept of the player main character - a defunct robot in need of collecting metal gears and cores to make the machine fully functional again.
